Consistent Middle Splits with a Slight Pace Decrease Steven McDonald's marathon performance in the 2026 M&T Bank Vermont City showcased admirable pacing consistency through the middle miles. Maintaining a solid average pace of 8:16-8:19 min/mile up to mile 17, Steven positioned himself strongly within his age group, peaking at 28th place in the M40-44 division by mile 3. Notably, his splits in the middle miles were impressively consistent, with split paces of 7:57-8:14 min/mile, reflecting endurance and strategic pacing. A gradual pace decrease was observed toward the latter part of the race.
