Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Heather Seymour #2049 Race: 2026 Glacier Half Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Paced Like a Cheetah, Determined like a Tortoise! Heather's half marathon journey was dazzling! Starting with poise at a steady pace of 12:22 for the first mile, she gained momentum by mile 2, dropping her split to 11:47. Throughout the race, Heather showcased remarkable consistency, finishing the race in 2:34:27 with an average pace of 11:47 min/mile. Her pace significantly improved during the later stages, notably in miles 9 and 13 where she clocked her fastest splits of 9:36 and 9:40. That shows courage and a fighting spirit, bringing out that inner sports ninja! Heather held steady in her division, clinching 11th in F50-54, among more than 1500 participants. Her commitment shone on those final miles, especially when returning to a faster pace. To consider for next time, sustaining that kick from those mid-race bursts could propel her even more.
