Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Kendra Smartnick #2073 Race: 2026 Glacier Half Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Consistent Progress and a Strong Finish Kendra started her race with a steady pace, clocking in at 11:06 min/mile for the first mile. She consistently improved, with her fastest mile being the 13th, where she nailed a 7:43 min/mile. The incremental improvements in pace from mile 2 through mile 12, and her substantial finish, contributed to her overall elapsed pace of 9:31 min/mile. Remarkably, Kendra showed significant progress in placements as well. She began in 32nd place for her division and powered through to finish in 9th place. Her overall standing improved from 288th to 164th out of 1505 participants. Kendra finished with a time of 2:04:45, showing dedication and resilience in her performance.
