Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Jose Gutierrez #1488 Race: 2026 Glacier Half Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Jose's Stellar Stride Breakthrough! Jose got off to a steady start, clocking a 9:48 min/mile for his first mile and strategically moving up from 123rd to 79th place by mile 3. He maintained an even pace with a 9:31 min/mile split for mile 11. In the middle portion, Jose utilized his inner speedster, improving his split times to as fast as 7:04 min/mile by mile 9. His adaptability and perseverance are evident in the negative splits following mile 5, reflecting outstanding race management! Impressively finishing the Half Marathon in 1:52:51, Jose boasted an average pace of 8:36 min/mile, finishing 63rd overall out of 1505 participants. A noteworthy 10th place in his M30-34 division was a result of his consistent effort. There's certainly enthusiasm in his execution! A minor opportunity lies in sharpening pacing during the latter stages to capitalize on his early consistency and mid-race acceleration. A commendable performance from this Upland dynamo!
