Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Darin Abacherli #1119 Race: 2026 Glacier Half Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Impressive Mid-Race Surge and Finish Darin Abacherli kicked off the "2026 Vacation Races | Glacier Half" with steady pacing. Starting with a 9:05 min/mile in the first mile, he maintained his momentum over the next few miles, hovering around a consistent pace of approximately 9:30 min/mile. His initial positioning saw fluctuations in overall placement, moving from 41st to 57th within the gender field. By the middle of the race, something clicked as he started to gradually pick up the pace. Darin's performance truly shined in the second half of the race. His pacing improved significantly, closing with an impressive final mile at a 6:52 min/mile pace, contributing to an overall time of 1:47:27. Ending 35th overall, Darin's surge in those last miles not only improved his standing but showed grit and determination. With this evident mid-race acceleration, he could focus on maintaining that quicker pace earlier in future races. Keep that momentum rolling, Darin!
