Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Thomas Heiden #1511 Race: 2026 Glacier Half Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Finding Rhythm in the Race Thomas Heiden's performance at the 2026 Vacation Races | Glacier Half showcased a strong overall effort. He galloped through the half marathon in a time of 1:31:26, with an average pace of 6:58 min/mile. Thomas impressively clinched 2nd place in the Male 25-29 division and 8th overall out of 1505 participants. Initially starting strong with a steady pace, his split between miles 1 and 5 showed consistency around the 7:17 mark. Midway through the race, Thomas demonstrated notable acceleration, particularly notable with a dynamic 6:24 split at mile 6 and an even zippier 6:08 split at mile 8. While he slowed a bit during mile 11, he effectively regained speed, finishing the race with a solid 6:11 final mile. A little more pacing consistency in the middle stages could be beneficial, but the positive momentum in the latter miles was nothing short of extraordinary. Well done, Thomas!
