Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Kayla Billadeau #1192 Race: 2026 Glacier Half Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Finding a New Gear in the Second Half Kayla started her half marathon journey at the Glacier Half strong, clocking 13:24 for the first mile, with consistent pacing over the initial third of the race. Although the pace between miles 3 and 5 gradually slowed with split times around 16:27 and 16:32, its important to acknowledge the perseverance shown during these miles where her placement remained stable. What's remarkable is the impressive pickup from mile 6 onward. With sub-12:00 splits through miles 6 to 8, she demonstrated a strong comeback. Despite a slight slowdown in mile 11, Kayla maintained an admirable consistency across the final miles. Wrapping up with an overall time of 3:01:40, her ability to adjust and push through mile after mile speaks volumes about her resilience. Observing the improved pace in the latter half, continuing to build on this momentum could lead to even swifter finishes. Cheers to Kayla for a spirited performance!
