Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Al Genu Saldariega #2001 Race: 2026 Glacier Half Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Strong Finish in Glacier Half Marathon Al Genu Saldariega tackled the 2026 Vacation Races Glacier Half with a total elapsed time of 2:42:56, maintaining an average pace of 12:26 min/mile. Starting strong with an initial mile pace of 11:16, Al showed his strategic pacing skills. Although there were some challenges during the race with a slight slowdown in the third mile to a 15:49 min/mile pace, Al recovered brilliantly over the next few miles with a sprint to the finish line, notably hitting a 9:07 min/mile pace at mile nine. Al's performance highlights include regaining focus after a tough stretch and finishing the race on a high note with miles 6 through 9 showcasing improvement in pace. While Al placed 637th out of 1,505, it's clear his persistence paid off. Moving forward, Al could focus on maintaining that fantastic end-of-race momentum throughout all split paces, especially tackling those downhill stretches. Keep the positivity flowing, Al!
