Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Hunter Stanley #2115 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Maintained Leadership With Calculated Pace Changes Hunter displayed a remarkable sense of pacing during the 2025 Vacation Races Half Marathon at Zion, clocking an elapsed time of 1:28:46 over 13.1 miles. His overall pace of 6:46 min/mile was driven by a commendable start, achieving a split time of 6:25 for the first mile, securing the top spot early on. From miles 2 to 10, Hunter consistently held first place by maintaining sub-6:30 paces, impressively dropping to as low as 5:56 min/mile on the second mile. In the latter part of the race, Hunter experienced a slight decrease in pace, with an 8:16 min/mile split on mile 13, ultimately placing third overall out of 1404 participants. Hunter's ability to control pace effectively during the first 10 miles suggests a solid foundation in endurance training.
