Consistent Performance with a Strong Finish Derek started the race with a solid pace, completing the first mile in 11:25 min/mile. The pace slowed in the second and third miles, at 13:08 min/mile. However, Derek regained momentum in mile four, improving his pace to 11:46 min/mile and maintaining it near this level until mile six with split paces of 11:46 and 11:43 min/mile. Despite experiencing a setback in mile eight with a split pace of 23:30 min/mile, Derek showed determination by accelerating significantly in miles nine and ten with paces of 10:17 and 10:14 min/mile. He concluded his run with a final elapsed time of 2:49:38, placing 66th in his division against a total of 3795 participants. The consistency observed in Derek's splits at later stages of the race demonstrates his ability to sustain effort and finish strong. Focusing on maintaining a steady pace could improve performance consistency.
