Consistent Progress and Strong Finish David Shi showed commendable consistency and improvement in the 2026 Bay to Breakers, ending with a substantial climb in ranks. Starting with a 12:04 pace, David managed to accelerate through the race, notably improving his split time significantly at mile 5 with a 10:34 pace. This improvement placed him higher, moving from 1526th to finishing 960th overall. His performance was consistent, with each mile revealing better split times, highlighted by an 8:10 pace in the final mile. Throughout the race, David improved his placement in his division (M20-29) from 254 to an impressive 161. David's strategy of picking up speed post the mid-race point, especially from mile 6 onward, was effective, maintaining a forward momentum despite the elevation on Hayes Hill. His final elapsed time was an admirable 1:36:30 for 9.23 miles with an overall pace of 10:27 min/mile. Reaching out for quicker starts can refine overall performance even further.
