Steady Progress with Late Surge Edwin Hu's performance at the 2026 Bay to Breakers showcased a steady progression throughout the 12K. Starting with a pace of 16:11 min/mile in the first mile, he maintained a consistent effort despite the challenging uphill from 2.2 to 2.7 miles, which reflected in the splits of 17:07 min/mile and 21:18 min/mile for miles two and three, respectively. While there was a noticeable slowdown through mile five with a 22:25 min/mile pace, Edwin showed resilience with a split of 14:25 min/mile in mile seven, significantly improving his position. Special attention should be given to Edwin's impressive gain in the ranks; after an initial position of 12507, he briefly reached a high of 9898 overall, before finishing at 14604 out of 24523. While there's consistency in his splits, harnessing speed earlier might help improve future performance. Overall, Edwins ability to pick up speed in the later stages is commendable.
