Steady Improvement and Strong Finish Sandra effectively maintained a steady pace during the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K. Starting with a 14:48 min/mile pace, she managed to slightly improve her pace to 14:46 min/mile by the second mile, demonstrating solid pacing. Notably, during the challenging ascent at Hayes Hill from miles 2.2 to 2.7, her pace slightly decelerated to 15:44 min/mile, affecting her position but keeping her well-ranked in her F60-69 division. After conquering Hayes Hill, Sandra improved her pace significantly in subsequent miles. She achieved her fastest split time of 14:19 min/mile in the seventh mile, showing a strong finish. Overall, Sandra placed 148th in the F60-69 age division out of a broad field of participants, and made significant gains in overall placement as the race progressed. Consistent pacing, especially post-Hayes Hill, is a strength she can continue to leverage in future races.
