Keen Finish Under Pressure Kat McLain completed the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K with a final time of 2:14:10, averaging an 18:00 min/mile pace over the 7.45-mile course as part of the Prancing Pickle Party team. Starting strong, Kat maintained a consistent pace in the early miles, with a notable first split of 14:39. The second split saw a slight increase to 16:55 min/mile, as she approached the steep Hayes Hill. Despite the demanding incline, she managed well, maintaining an overall competitive position, eventually improving her positions significantly between the 5th and 6th miles. Concluding the race, her sprint on the final mile with a split time of 16:25 highlights her endurance. With a position jump from 12056 to 10707 overall and from 5813 to 5248 in her gender, Kat showed remarkable resilience. Continuing to focus on consistency in pace over varied terrain could enhance future performances.
