Notably, he kept a consistent place in the overall and division rankings during this segment. As he encountered the challenge of Hayes Hill between miles 2.2 and 2.7, Gabriels split time slowed to 26:54 min/mile, impacting his rankings; however, this was expected given the course's profile.
