Consistent Start, Evaluating Late Splits for Optimization Dan completed the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K with a total elapsed time of 3:18:57, covering a distance of 7.45 miles at an average pace of 26:42 min/mile. The initial two miles had consistent splits, both at 19:12 min/mile. Notably, on Hayes Hill between 2.2 and 2.7 miles, where significant slowing down is common, the pace shifted to 23:12 min/mile, which can be a focal point for future enhancement in maintaining steady pacing. The latter splits exhibit some potential areas for improvement. From mile 4 onwards, there was a noticeable drop in pace, with each mile taking 33:49 min/mile. While maintaining perseverance to finish is commendable, examining this trend could prove beneficial. Strategies such as pacing adjustments, focusing on steady hill training, or varying pace drills could help improve performance for upcoming races.
