Strong Performance with Strategic Pacing Alexander Hughes exhibited consistent pacing throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers race, finishing the 12K event in a time of 48:34. His overall average pace was 6:31 min/mile. Notably, his performance on the infamous Hayes Hill, between miles 2.2 and 2.7, saw a slight pace adjustment to 7:17 min/mile. This strategic slowdown helped to conserve energy for the remainder of the race. Alexander managed to complete most of his mile splits at a pace close to 6:30 min/mile, demonstrating strong and consistent pacing. His fastest mile was between miles 5 and 6 with a split of 6:11. Ending with consistent paces throughout the event, Alexander placed 59th in his M30-39 division out of a competitive field. To enhance performance further, aiming to sustain a consistent pace on inclines could be beneficial. Great job maintaining a steady rhythm throughout the race!
