Steady Persistence Despite Pace Fluctuations Joshua Carroccia, representing RFRC, participated in the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K event. Covering a total of 7.45 miles with an overall finishing time of 3:08:46 and an average pace of 25:20 min/mile, he placed 17844th out of 24386 participants. Joshua kept a fairly steady pace of 13:32 min/mile in his first split. Timing slightly increased in subsequent miles, leading to a slower third mile with a 37:08 split time, likely impacted by Hayes Hill. Joshua saw his pace improve in the latter stages of the race. His final splits showed improvement, particularly the 15:01 min/mile pace recorded in the seventh mile. Elevation and course-specific challenges could be factors during the more challenging splits. For future races, Joshua could focus on maintaining the early momentum and consider strategies to manage energy output during hilly segments for more consistent pacing throughout.
