Consistent Performance with Strong Finish Doug Blaul completed the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, covering the distance in a total time of 3:26:53. His overall pace was 27:46 min/mile. As a member of the "Don Patrol" team, Doug navigated the course with noticeable consistency. Starting with a 20:20 min/mile pace for the first mile, he maintained a steady performance despite the demanding Hayes Hill section, which impacted mile 3's pace to 44:10 min/mile yet he gained ground, improving his place in the M60-69 division from 504th at mile 2 to 462nd at mile 3. In the latter stages of the race, Doug showed resilience, achieving his fastest mile split on mile 6 at 23:33 min/mile, regaining positions and closing in on his finish. By mile 7, he maintained a consistent pace of 24:42 min/mile. His overall placement saw him finishing 626th in his division, an indication of his steadfast strategy, especially through challenging segments like Hayes Hill. Working on maintaining momentum during uphill segments could further enhance his race strategy in future runs.
