Consistent Performance with Gradual Improvement Viet Nguyen from Antelope, CA, showed steady pacing throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K race. Starting with a 14:07 min/mile pace in the first mile, the pace decreased at Hayes Hill, resulting in a 24:23 min/mile for the third mile, which is not uncommon given the steepness. Impressively, there was a notable positive recovery in the final stretch, dropping to an 11:48 min/mile pace. Despite initial challenges, overall improvement is evident from the gained positions between miles three and six. Finishing at an 18:03 min/mile pace and a total time of 2:14:33, Viet placed 14204 out of 26545 participants and was 1896 in the Male 20-29 division. This reflects a well-managed race, particularly through tougher sections. Future focus could be on maintaining energy levels for those steeper segments.
