Steady Start, Focus Needed on Hills Kim Ambach from Los Altos participated in the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, representing "The Taco Cats" team. Her performance showed promise early on with a strong initial pace of 11:16 min/mile, placing her well within her division. However, the second and third miles, which included the challenging Hayes Hill section, took a toll on her overall rhythm. Notably, the pace dropped significantly during this uphill stretch, reaching 33:50 min/mile in the third mile. While the earlier splits showed a steady approach, maintaining momentum was an area that required attention post-Hayes Hill. Encouragingly, Kim managed to quicken her pace in miles six and seven, demonstrating resilience with times of 24:58 and 20:43 min/mile, respectively. Concluding her race with a total time of 3:19:27, Kim placed 545th in her division. A focused strategy on sustaining energy through hilly sections could enhance her future performances.
