Pacing Improvement After Hayes Hill Michael Tong completed the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K with an overall time of 1:30:15, clocking an average pace of 12:06 min/mile. Starting off, his consistent early pace of 12:23 min/mile through the first two miles gave way to a slower split at mile 3, where his pace increased to 15:19 min/mile. Despite this slower segment, Michael significantly improved his pace in the latter stagesespecially after the tough third mileculminating in his fastest split at mile 6 with a 10:31 min/mile pace. Analyzing Michael's performance, there's a notable improvement after the third mile with a strong finish. The steep terrain of Hayes Hill might have contributed to the slower split between miles 2 and 3, but the recovery was impressive. Future efforts could focus on maintaining consistency through challenging sections, as seen by his ability to quickly rebound and finish strong, ultimately securing a placement of 506th in his division at mile 6.
