Consistent Start, Slower in the Middle Caryl Fass maintained a steady beginning with a first mile at a pace of 17:24 min/mile. Her performance on the initial two miles showed consistency, covering the second mile in 18:58 min/mile. Notably, she maintained her overall and gender place positions during these initial miles. However, between miles 3 and 5, Caryl faced challenges, particularly noticeable on Hayes Hill between miles 2.2 and 2.7, where her pace dropped significantly to 26:25 min/mile and later to 52:01 min/mile by the 5th mile. Improvement in hill training could help maintain a more consistent pace. In the final two miles, she demonstrated recovery with a faster pace of 23:15 min/mile from mile 6 to 7. Despite these fluctuations, Caryl finished the 12K event with a total time of 3:20:19, finishing as number 550 in her age division. Congratulations on completing the race!
