Demonstrating improved pacing strategies, William moved up significantly in his age division M20-29, finishing 1,441st. William began with a consistent pace, maintaining an 18:55 min/mile pace in the first mile, and gradually improved his pace each mile, especially after Hayes Hill between miles 2.2 and 2.7, where he paced himself well with a significant drop to a 12:47 min/mile split by the fourth mile.
