Consistent Pacing Over Challenging Terrain Maya maintained a steady pace throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, finishing with an elapsed time of 1:42:41 and an average pace of 13:47 min/mile. Consistency was a strong suit with the first two miles each clocked at a steady pace of 13:54 per mile. She showed remarkable resilience on the steep Hayes Hill section, passing the 3-mile mark with a split time of 15:07 and a split pace of 15:07 min/mile. This minor slowdown is understandable due to the incline. After conquering Hayes Hill, Maya demonstrated an impressive ability to regain speed, particularly noticeable in the final three miles where each mile was completed at a pace of 12:22 min/mile, her fastest splits of the race. This indicates a strong finish and effective energy management. Maintaining or even increasing this speed earlier could improve overall placement, but her solid performance builds a great foundation for future races. Well done representing UCSF!
