Strong Second Half Performance Marks Race Day Kirby Jacobs demonstrated an impressive second-half performance in the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K race. Opening with consistent miles of 37:12 min/mile for each of the first three miles, she maintained her effort until Hayes Hill. The fourth mile split of 37:09 min/mile reflected a slight improvement, with noticeable gains in her overall pace. Notably, she maintained consistency throughout the more challenging middle sections of the course. Moving into the latter half, Kirby showed significant pacing improvements. Her last three miles displayed a considerable drop in time, highlighting a strong finish. Miles five through seven saw split times decrease dramatically, with a split pace of 22:32 and 20:21 min/mile, respectively. The final push resulted in an overall elapsed pace of 29:57 min/mile. Her final time of 3:43:14 placed her in the top three-fifths of participants, with marked improvements in her gender and division placements. For future races, maintaining this momentum at the start could be beneficial.
