Strong Finish and Consistent Improvement Throughout the Race Joy Katzburg demonstrated a noteworthy performance at the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, improving her placement significantly during the course. Her pace remained steady for the first few splits, maintaining an average pace around 11:50 min/mile. Notably, her performance on Hayes Hill was strong, as she moved from 5740th to 4080th place overall from miles 2 to 3. This improvement was a result of maintaining pace consistency against the challenging part of the course. Joy's later splits showcased her ability to accelerate, with her fastest mile achieved between miles 6 and 7 at an 8:59 min/mile pace, culminating in an overall pace of 11:02 min/mile.
