Strong Finish with Swift Improvement Will Holz, a 14-year-old participant from Cotati, CA, demonstrated a noteworthy capacity to adjust and improve during the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K event. Covering a total distance of 7.45 miles with an overall elapsed time of 2:45:06, his average pace was 22:09 min/mile. Notably, his performance during the challenging Hayes Hill from miles 2.2 to 2.7 caused a temporary slowdown. However, Will managed a strong return in the latter part of the race, particularly evident during the final mile, clocking a significant pace improvement to 19:56 min/mile. Will secured 383rd place in the M19 & Under division out of 243 participants, demonstrating improvement, particularly with a remarkable jump in placing at mile 6. As a coach, I'd suggest focusing on pacing strategies for hilly sections to continue building strength and efficiency.
