Impressive Resilience and Strong Finish at Bay to Breakers Keilana Murphy demonstrated impressive resilience during the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, particularly on the challenging Hayes Hill from 2.2 to 2.7 miles. Early splits saw a slow pace, with the first two miles averaging over 16 minutes per mile. However, Keilana showcased her ability to recover by steadily improving in later miles. Notably, her pace improved significantly at mile 4, clocking in at 13:09, and she achieved her fastest mile with a time of 12:12 in mile 7. Her overall performance placed her 10,382nd out of 24,523 participants, and a commendable 1,579th in her division (F20-29). Ending with a total time of 1:48:13 and an average pace of 14:31 per mile, Keilana managed to maintain a consistent pace despite early declines. For future races, building on the strength shown in the latter part of the race could lead to overall time improvements. Well done for maintaining focus and strength throughout!
