Consistent Pacing with a Strong Finish Throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K event, Ali Ekin Gurgen maintained a notably consistent pace, particularly in the first two miles. Both splits were completed at a pace of 11:36 min/mile. Hayes Hill presented a challenge at the third mile, where the elapsed pace increased to 16:55 min/mile. The participant demonstrated resilience by progressively improving from thereon, showcasing splits that steadily quickened to 9:43 min/mile by the seventh mile. Ali finished with a total elapsed time of 1:25:58, averaging an 11:32 min/mile pace over the 7.45 miles. The placement within the M20-29 division was 782 out of a vast field. Highlighting areas for growth, the third-mile performance shows potential for improvement on inclines. Team PAC RUN CLUB can provide enhanced support for maintaining speed on uphill terrains. Nevertheless, the adaptive recovery and stronger splits in later miles are commendable attributes.
