Steady Recovery in the Second Half Solon Yiu participated in the 2026 Bay to Breakers, completing the 15K Breakers Bonus with an overall time of 2:12:09, maintaining an average pace of 14:20 min/mile. Notable improvements were seen in the latter half of the race. Solon's first mile split was a 13:52 min/mile pace, but a slowdown occurred around the second mile with a 27:01 min/mile split, which is consistent with the challenging Hayes Hill section that affects many participants. This resulted in an overall pace dip to 23:17 min/mile by mile three. A notable observation is his faster split times from mile five onwards, improving steadily from a 10:27 min/mile pace to a strong 8:13 min/mile by the final mile. Solon's perseverance during the second half helped improve his position from 2415 overall at mile five, ending at 2307. For future races, it may be beneficial to focus on maintaining a steadier pace during elevation changes to enhance overall performance.
