Consistent Progress Despite Hayes Hill Challenge Vincent Oliver's journey through the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K offered an insightful look into his approach to pacing over the distance. Beginning with a pace of 23:11 min/mile for the first mile, Vincent progressed commendably, reducing his split time to 21:37 min/mile by the second mile. Notably, the third mile saw an increase in the split pace to 37:03 min/mile, which coincides with the notoriously steep Hayes Hill section, demonstrating a strategic adjustment in effort. After tackling the hill, Vincent managed to reclaim momentum, notably closing with mile seven at a much-improved pace of 21:28 min/mile.
