Significant Improvement in Later Miles Krista Humbles showed commendable persistence in the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K race with an overall time of 2:42:15. Her performance displayed an overall pacing strategy that improved noticeably in the latter part of the race. Starting with an initial mile pace of 17:36, Krista encountered some slowdown as she approached Hayes Hill between miles 2 and 3, where the splits increased to a peak of 25:25 pace by mile 4. This indicates some potential challenges on the hill climb. Impressively, Krista managed to regain momentum after the hill, clocking faster split times in the final segments. She completed mile 5 at 21:56 and notably improved at mile 7 with a split pace of 19:19. By maintaining consistency towards the end, she advanced in her division, moving from 2,249th place during the second mile to finishing in 2,536th out of 3,588 in F30-39. For future races, sustaining this stronger finish from the start could yield even better results.
