Strong Finish Despite Early Challenges Delaney McCann completed her 12K race with an overall time of 1:30:47, maintaining an average pace of 12:11 minutes per mile. Her final split showed significant improvement with a time of 11:04, her fastest pace of the race. This indicates a commendable ability to pick up the pace after the more demanding sections. Impressively, she managed to improve her standings from early in the race, placing 2537th in her gender and moving up to 602nd in her division by the finish. In the first three miles, the steep incline of Hayes Hill reflected in the split times, especially noticeable in mile 3, where her pace slowed to 13:51 minutes per mile. Her performance improved after the hill, which is seen in the subsequent faster paces and improved placements. For future races, emphasizing consistent pacing and conditioning on hills could potentially smooth out early fluctuations and enhance overall results.
