Consistent Pacing with a Strong Finish Jack Brilliant displayed impressive pacing in the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K. Notably consistent early on, Jack maintained a strong pace, starting with a 5:32 mile, and stabilizing around a 5:45 pace in subsequent splits. Although the third mile showed a slowed pace of 6:16, coinciding with the ascent on Hayes Hill, Jack quickly recovered, finishing with two sub-5:30 miles. His tenacity was evident as he clinched 2nd place in the M19 & Under division. His overall race was completed in 42:13, averaging a commendable 5:40 min/mile pace for the 7.45-mile distance. He navigated the crowded 26,545 participant field, ultimately placing 58th overall and 56th among males. A strong start and an even stronger finish suggest a solid strategy. Attention to maintaining pacing on inclines could yield even more impressive outcomes in future races.
