Impressive Pace Improvement Mid-Race Beth ONeill showcased a commendable performance at the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K race. Starting with a steady pace, her initial splits were consistent at around 17:36 min/mile for the first two miles. Notably, from Mile 3 to Mile 4, which included the challenging Hayes Hill segment, Beth improved her split pace significantly to 12:19 min/mile, overtaking numerous runners as her overall and gender placements improved. The latter part of her race demonstrated effective pacing strategies. From Mile 4 onwards, Beth consistently maintained splits between 12:19 and 12:49 min/mile, finishing the race with an average pace of 14:37 min/mile. Despite a competitive field of over 24,000 participants, Beths performance landed her a respectable 714th place in the F40-49 division and 4662nd among females. Focusing more on maintaining a steady speed earlier might aid in achieving even faster overall pace times in future races.
