Consistent Finish with Improved Pacing Maddi Basse from San Francisco delivered a determined performance at the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, racing for team "The Taco Cats". With a total distance of 7.45 miles and a completion time of 3:16:54, she maintained a steady overall pace of 26:25 min/mile. Notably, she began with a solid first mile at a 12:09 min/mile pace, which was the fastest split of the race. Although there was a noticeable slowdown after the first mile, Maddi showed improvement in the final segments. Particularly after the challenging Hayes Hill between miles 2 and 3, there was a significant drop in her positions. However, she regained momentum and advanced from 15476th to 14036th place overall in the latter half. Her recovery from 5 to 6 miles showcased her strength as she improved her gender and division rankings. Continual focus on maintaining pace consistency throughout race segments could yield better results in future events.
