Strong Finish with Speed Increase Alexander Brussell began the 2026 Bay to Breakers with a steady pace, clocking 11:22 min/mile for the first mile. Progressing through the steep Hayes Hill section from mile 2.2 to mile 2.7, his pace slowed to 13:43 min/mile. Despite the challenge, he moved up in the ranks considerably, improving from the 1030th to 788th position in his division. The latter part of the race saw impressive improvements with his fastest split recorded at mile 7, where he hit 9:42 min/mile, showcasing a significant speed increase over the final stretch. This performance contributed to an overall time of 1:26:03 for the 12K event. Maintaining consistent energy to improve his pace in the last two miles might be a focus for future races.
