Gradual Pace Increase with Strategic Recovery Kevin Cheng, representing San Jose, CA, showed strong pacing throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K event. Averaging a 13:57 min/mile over the 7.45-mile distance, Kevin navigated the course with notable determination. He showed consistency in the early phases, achieving an 11:28 min/mile pace in the second mile. The third mile proved challenging, coinciding with Hayes Hill, as indicated by a slower 22:32 min/mile split. This is a key area for future improvement, particularly on hilly segments.
