Strong Finish with Notable Mid-Race Surge Darya Zakharova completed the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K with an official time of 1:25:59, averaging an 11:32 min/mile pace. Notably, her performance during the Hayes Hill section saw a slight slowdown, with the third-mile split recorded at 13:33 min/mile. However, Darya made an impressive recovery in the later stages, with her pace dropping to 10:39 min/mile by the sixth mile and further to 9:32 min/mile at the seventh mile. Overall, Darya showed a commendable blend of endurance and strategic pacing improvements in the latter half of the race. She secured 1933rd in the female category and 638th in her age division out of 24,523 participants. The ability to regain and maintain speed after the challenging incline reflects both physical and mental resilience.
