Consistent Effort with a Strong Finish Marico Enriquez demonstrated a consistent performance throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K Centipede. Beginning with a steady first mile at 9:07 min/mile, Marico maintained a good rhythm, completing the third mile at a more conservative 12:38 min/mile as he tackled the challenging Hayes Hill between miles 2.2 and 2.7. Despite the deceleration, he remained competitive, starting at 182 in overall place and moving to 238 after the third mile. Notably, Marico showed remarkable resilience and adaptability in the latter stages. From mile four onwards, he improved his pace significantly, with split times of 10:07 min/mile in mile six and a swift 9:23 min/mile in mile seven. This effort brought him back to a better standing, finishing the race in 271st place overall out of 1839 total participants, and 124th in his gender category. Working on hill training could yield even better results in the future.
