Consistent Gains and a Strong Finish Nathan Zhao displayed a strategic progression throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K Centipede event. Starting at a pace of 10:23 min/mile, he maintained an impressive consistency early on. A noticeable pacing adjustment occurred between miles 2 and 3, with a challenging pace on Hayes Hill that affected his elapsed pace to 11:31 min/mile. However, Nathan gained momentum and demonstrated resilience by improving his pace significantly in subsequent miles. In the latter half, Nathan's consistency paid off as he quickened his pace, completing miles 4 to 7 between 10:06 and 9:03 min/mile.
