Consistent Pacing with a Strong Finish Heather Cerney demonstrated exceptional and consistent pacing during the 2026 Bay to Breakers race, maintaining an impressive average pace of 6:25 min/mile over the 12K distance. She began with a 6:27 min/mile pace, quickly improving to 6:21 in the second mile. Her pace during the event was notably steady, with only a slight increase to 7:02 min/mile at mile 3, coinciding with the steep Hayes Hill. Despite this challenge, Heather showed resilience, regaining a faster pace of 6:07 min/mile by mile 6. Heather claimed the 22nd spot in her gender and 10th in her division, finishing in 47:49. Her ability to recover and maintain a sub-6:30 pace after the climb speaks volumes about her endurance and training. For future races, maintaining the pace achieved during miles 2 and 6 could lead to even better times. Great job, and continue to build on this strong foundation!
