Improvement in Pace and Placement Kai Ngo showed a steady progression throughout the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K. Starting with a split pace of 22:27 min/mile, there was a noticeable adjustment during the second mile, leading to a slower pace of 26:11 min/mile, reflective of the Hayes Hill section. Convincingly, by the third mile, the pace increased to 28:00 min/mile but quickened again in the fifth mile to 21:12 min/mile, showcasing strength post-Hayes Hill. Ending with an overall elapsed time of 2:59:54, Kai completed the 7.45-mile course with an average pace of 24:08 min/mile. Despite beginning consistently, his strongest split was noticeably the final mile, clocking at 19:32 min/mile. Kai's placement improved well, moving from 15,988th overall position to finishing 13,338th. Focusing on maintaining a consistent pace across varying course segments can help Kai further enhance his performance. Great teamwork was also evident as part of Hotel Nikko San Francisco.
