Consistent Pacing with a Speedy Recovery In the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, Alex Galvin from San Francisco demonstrated a steady performance. Throughout the race, Alex maintained a consistent pace, particularly in the first two miles with a pace of 12:02 min/mile. Notably, the performance on the steep Hayes Hill sustained only a slight decrease in pace, clocking a 12:42 min/mile during the climb. The second half of the race was where Alex shined, progressively increasing speed. Particularly impressive was the pace of 10:32 min/mile between the fifth and sixth miles, resulting in a noteworthy climb in overall rank from 4123 to 3597. Ultimately, with an elapsed pace of 11:36 min/mile, Alex finished strong, representing the Slow Runners Club against a total of 24,386 participants. While his finishing position was 4960 overall, his efforts were commendable. Continued emphasis on increasing speed earlier in the race may improve future results.
