Consistent Effort with Strong Finish Grant Meng participated in the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, maintaining a consistent pace throughout the race. Starting with a 16:11 min/mile pace in the first mile, Grant settled into a steady rhythm, varying between 16:11 min/mile and 22:38 min/mile throughout the race. Notably, Grant picked up the pace significantly in the final stretch, recording a 13:13 min/mile pace in the last mile, which improved his overall standing. This demonstrates a commendable ability to conserve energy and finish strong, making it a highlight of his performance. The steep section at Hayes Hill, between 2.2 and 2.7 miles, might have contributed to a noticeable slowdown. Despite this, Grant finished with an overall elapsed pace of 18:29 min/mile. His performance placed him 355th in the M19 & Under category out of 307 participants, which is an improvement from earlier standings. For future races, focusing on maintaining a more even pace throughout steep sections might lead to even better results.
