Strong Finishing Split Showcases Resilience John McCloskey finished the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K with an impressive performance. Despite a steady start with consistent splits of 11:34 min/mile at both the 1-mile and 2-mile marks, the third mile saw a slight slowdown, with a peak split pace of 14:48 min/mile, largely attributed to the challenge of Hayes Hill. However, Johns determination was evident as he picked up the pace considerably in the latter half of the race. Continuing his strong finish, Johns 6th split was notably fast at 8:43 min/mile, showcasing determination and stamina. Ultimately, his final split was even stronger at 7:23 min/mile, which contributed to his overall rank of 3822 out of 24,386 total participants, and a division placement of 22nd in the M70-79 category.
