Steady Pace with a Strong Finish Tyler Ma maintained a consistent overall pace in the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K Centipede event, steadily progressing through the race. Notably, the steep Hayes Hill caused a minor slowdown from a 13:13 to a 14:11 min/mile pace in the third mile before a strong recovery. Over the next few miles, Tyler improved his pace to 12:55 and then to 12:45 min/mile by the fifth mile. Tyler's performance crescendoed with faster splits in the final miles. He achieved his fastest segment during mile six at 10:48 min/mile and further pushed to a sub-10-minute mile during mile seven with a 9:59 min/mile pace. He completed the race in 1:31:31, achieving an overall pace of 12:17 min/mile and securing 221st place among male participants out of 1839 total competitors.
