Consistent Splits Noted in Mid-Race Recovery During the 2026 Bay to Breakers 12K, Tony Lee completed the 7.45-mile course with an overall time of 2:09:01, maintaining an average pace of 17:19 min/mile. Tony began the race with a strong 15:26 min/mile pace in the first mile. The steep progression on Hayes Hill influenced the second and third mile splits, which slowed to 19:46 and 20:43 min/mile respectively, as expected due to the elevation change. Notably, Tony showed resilience by recovering his pace in the latter part of the race, bringing his splits to 17:17 min/mile from mile four to five, and improving further with a 15:17 min/mile pace during mile six. In the final mile, Tony maintained a 16:11 min/mile pace even after traversing the more challenging segment. His strategy of pacing during the uphill sections followed by a strong finish demonstrates his capability to manage pace across varying terrain.
