Pacing Adjustments Lead to Improved Placement Jeff Wang, representing the Visa Fun Runners in the 2026 Bay to Breakers, showcased a notable adaptation in pacing throughout the 12K event. With an overall finish time of 1:30:32 and an average pace of 12:09 min/mile, Jeff navigated the race amid 24,523 participants. His placement was 6,359th overall and 3,755th among men, while securing 1,253rd in the M30-39 division. The race strategy revealed variability in pace, particularly between miles two and six. Jeff's consistent improvement in placement after Hayes Hill suggests a well-managed exertion plan. Notably, he significantly improved his split times in the later stages, with a remarkable split pace of 9:01 min/mile in the sixth mile. This adjustment positively impacted his ranking, advancing more than 1,400 places from the start. Further optimization in pacing during the beginning and middle of the race could result in even more substantial gains.
